There are many instances where the change from IMAP to POP might be necessary. The below steps take you through the simple process step by step. Make sure you do not skip any step as it could result in the loss of emails.
Step 1. Backup Your Local Email

Step 2. Open the newly created backup
Once you have completed the backup, open the new backup file you created in Outlook.
- Click on File then click on Open & Export, then click on the Open Outlook Data File button.
- Navigate to the location on your computer where you saved the backup file in Step 1.
- Select the backup file and click on Open.
- In your Outlook Folder View on the left you will see the new data file available. Click on the downwards pointing arrow to the left of the file and your backup folder structure will open.
- Verify that all your emails have been copied to this new file.
